BT’s Redcare Announces Closure

BT’s Redcare is withdrawing their signalling system for intruder and fire alarms services from the market. Customers will  need to seek alternative suppliers before 1 August 2025.

With the service ceasing next year, approximately 100,000 commercial and residential properties face the urgency of updating their alarm signalling equipment by 1 August 2025.

Redcare, a key provider in the UK, plays a vital role in notifying property owners and authorities when alarms are activated. Therefore, it is crucial for customers to search for a suitable replacement that meets their technical specification needs.

Many users will be unaware of the technological specifications delivered through Redcare, so it is important that the replacement service they choose is:

  1. Installed by a company regulated by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) which incorporates the National Approval Council for Security Systems (NACOSS) or a company regulated by the Security Systems and Alarm Inspection Board (SSAIB).
  2. Maintained under an annual maintenance contract with an appropriate alarm maintenance company or installer regulated by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) which incorporates the National Approval Council for Security Systems (NACOSS) or a company regulated by the Security Systems and Alarm Inspection Board (SSAIB). Evidence of the maintenance agreement may be needed in the event of a claim.*

Given the limited availability of alternative options, customers are strongly advised to act now rather than waiting. Delays in finding an alternative provider could lead to potential setbacks or even service interruptions due to manufacturing or installation constraints which may affect insurance protection.

To mitigate these risks and ensure compliance with insurance requirements, it is advisable to reach out to your independent, NACOSS or SSAIB registered alarm provider or contact our experts for more information.
