It is important to inform you about recent developments regarding the Motor Insurance Database (MID), which is the central record of all insured vehicles in the UK. Managed by the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB), the MID plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with motor insurance laws, aiding both the Police and regulatory bodies such as the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
The MIB has recently migrated its database to a new platform called Navigate. This transition has unfortunately resulted in technical glitches, leading to the failure of document transfers and users being unable to access their insurance documents.
In light of these challenges, the MIB has notified the police of potential inaccuracies. Until these issues are adequately addressed and resolved, we strongly advise all our policyholders to keep a physical copy of their insurance certificate with them at all times.
